What's old is new again

To celebrate my 40th birthday, we took a weekend trip to Shaver Lake.  It was perfect... good weather, great food and time with the family.

The kids have been asking for quite awhile to go fishing... so even though they didn't catch any fish, they were excited to learn to cast on the lake and they did some fly fishing on the river.

We also went for a hike where Ben loved climbing the rocks and Kara took a ton of pictures along the trail.

While some of us were out, some opted to stay back at the house, which was spectacular, and blow bubbles, play in the iPad and contemplate how far the Warriors will go this season.

It was a great birthday celebration... and what I'll remember most about turing 40 is the conversation I had with Ben.  It starts with Ben asking, "Mommy, how old are you going to be?" to which I reply, "Mommy is going to be old."  Then Ben says, "Mommy, you're not old.... you're new!"

My birthday wish.... just more of the same.  I know I'm very lucky... and I'm very grateful.
