Obon

The kids all got dressed up for the Parlier Obon... Jason even put on shoes because he's walking!!  They looked so cute and they were troopers in the 100+ degree heat!

All of the kids danced, even Jason participated via the Baby Bjorn.  Sho was busy trying to keep everyone cool and happy with yummy shave ice!

Lindsay was a fantastic teacher - Kara and Ben learned so many dances and Ben even put his own spin on a traditional dance.

After lots of dancing and smiling, there's nothing like Daddy's shave ice to mark the end of a great evening.

Mini Road Trip!

With a free Sunday and expected warm weather, we decided on an impromptu trip to the Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.  It was the first time Sho and the kids have seen the giant sequoia trees...

It feels like the pictures don't do justice for the size of the trees.  And though Sho and I kept looking up...

Kara and Ben seemed to be fascinated by the caterpillars on the ground.

We drove futher up the mountain to check out Roaring River Falls and along the way Sho found lots of great fishing sites for future trips.

Jason was so patient, as he spent most of the day either in his carseat, Baby Bjorn or the stroller.  He so much wants to walk and crawl and cruise!

With water so clean and clear, we couldn't resist putting our feet in the river.  The kids asked that next time we bring our fishing rods and our swimsuits.

That's What I'm Talkin' About!

Jason has hit his stride!  Each day seems to bring excitement as Jason gets to try new food... and since he's part of a farming family, I had to capture him eating his first piece of fruit!  If I were to guess, here's what I think Jason's thinking:

Hmm... this is new.

What do I do with anything new?  Straight to the mouth!  And Mommy hasn't tried to take it away.  Score!

Very squishy!

Ah, so good.

Oh dear, look what a mess I made.  Isn't my Mom the best?  I know she loves cleaning up sticky high chairs, plum-filled fingers and washing clothes.  Why is she looking at me like that?  Is there something on my face?
